Kids ALIVE! Cambodia

KAMBOL

PROJECT NAME: KIDS ALIVE CAMBODIA (KAMBOL)

LOCATION : KAMBOL, CAMBODIA

PROJECT PARTNER: Tola (Cambodian)

PROJECT BRIEF: This project started in 2018 with the aim of helping the kids in the village to have quality and value-centered education after their school hours, and to grow the kids academically and holistically. There is currently one class of 8 students, ages 7 to 14 years old. Classes are held every Tuesday to Friday.

The kids are excited to attend the classes as they look forward to the time of learning, conversing and interacting with their friends and teachers in English. They also love the times where they can have lessons/games outdoor with the blue sky and green grass.

The feedback from the students and their parents have been positive as parents have seen an improvement in their children’s academic results as well as behavior.

FUN FACT: Even when it’s school holidays, the kids do not want to have a break! 😊

BUONG TOM

PROJECT NAME: KIDS ALIVE CAMBODIA (BUONG TOM)

LOCATION : BUONG TOM, CAMBODIA

PROJECT PARTNER: Sim and Leakna (Cambodians)

PROJECT BRIEF: This project started in 2015 and currently has 15 students. Classes run from Fridays to Sundays every week, after school hours.

The group that started this project in Buong Tom believed that the Kids Alive program would greatly benefit the kids in the village, giving them a chance to learn and improve themselves academically, to develop their minds and to grow their interpersonal skills in a fun and engaging manner.

This project has made an impact not just in the lives of the kids in the village but also in the lives of the local teachers as they see themselves growing in their language, analytical and problem-solving skills.

FUN FACT: The current teachers are passionate young ladies and one of them is still in her final year in senior high school. 😊

SLARTUA

PROJECT NAME: KIDS ALIVE CAMBODIA (SLARTUA)

LOCATION : HOPE KIDS EDUCATION CENTRE, Tropeng Barku Village, Troeng Veng Commune, Kandal Stueng District, Kandal Province, Cambodia

PROJECT PARTNER: Bouroth and Sreykol (a Cambodian couple), from ASSEMBLIES OF GOD in CAMBODIA

PROJECT BRIEF: This project was started with our project partner, Bouroth and Sreykol, whom we know are passionate about education. They, together with Maia, a missionary from the Philippines, run 6 IMPACTS classes each week, with around 6-11 students in each class.

During each class, the students engage in meaningful play through educational games that develop them in multiple intelligences, followed by learning English according to a designated syllabus, and ending off with an enjoyable break over snacks where they are able to share their lives with the teacher and classmates. In addition, the teachers run a values-learning session once a week in which important values such as respect, responsibility, caring for others, etc. are imparted to the students.

This project has been running since 2015, and it has grown from 1 class of 6 students to where it is today. With the move to new premises in early 2019, there is space for more classes and the development of outdoor play and learning, providing an even better environment for wholesome development of the children. Adhering to our vision of providing quality and values-centred education, our project partner continues to strive to develop the cognitive and altruistic potential in the children, so that they can impact their communities in the future.

TAMARIND

PROJECT NAME: KIDS ALIVE CAMBODIA (TAMARIND)

LOCATION: Chork Village, Tmey Commune, Kandal Stueng District, Kandal Province, Cambodia Cambodia

PROJECT PARTNER: A Cambodia couple, Bouroth and Sreykol, from ASSEMBLIES OF GOD in CAMBODIA

PROJECT BRIEF: This is the second project initiated by our project partner, Bouroth and Sreykol. Convinced of the positive impact that the KA! PROGRAM has on the development of young children, the couple started this new project at Tamarind village, which is a stone’s throw away from Slartua village, when an opportunity presented itself through requests by the nearby villagers. The couple run 2 IMPACTS classes each week, with around 10 students in each class.

This project has been running for a year since 2018, and it has grown from 1 class of 7 students to where it is today. Adhering to our vision of providing quality and values-centred education, our project partner continues to strive to develop the cognitive and altruistic potential in the children, so that they can impact their communities in the future.
